Thomas School - Old building - about 1890-92
This one was struck by lightening on a Sunday afternoon & burned to the ground. Later rebuilt by carpenters from Hooppole similar to old building.
3rd from left: Oscar Anderson
4th from left: G. Rindhart Johnson
5th girl from right: Elrena John Stien (white apron)Viva Stien Krone's mother.
8th girl from right - Matie Bunker Greenwood (black dress/white collar))
Note the 4 crosses on top of cupola.
A note card was included with this photo: "Dear Bob, Finally I am sending 2 copies of the picture. We had made at Manlius bank & wasn't very clear so then my grandson's wife had some made & finally got this one & I'm sending another. Maybe the two will show you most of it."
"I don't know just what year this was - my uncle Rindhart (the tall boy) was born in 1880 & my mother with cross mark on apron was born in 1882 & this was just before the school house burned - if you happen to have that date."
Sincerely, Viva Krone
