FRED FRANCE DIED SATURDAY

DEATH WAS DUE TO FALL IN HIGH SCHOOL BOILER ROOM

A lareg number of relatives and friends attended funeral services for Fred FRANCE which were held at the Parent funeral parlor Monday afternoon at two-thirty. Rev. L. BEALS, pastor of the M. E. church, conducted the service which he opened with the 23rd psalm. He also quoted Tennyson's "Crossing the Bar." He spoke of the life of Paul in his message of comfort. Two hymns "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Face to Face" were included in the service.

Burial was in the Tampico Memorial cemetery with A. E. BENNETT, John STROUSS, H. E. RICE, Howard BATTEN, Wm. COONEY and Fred HOWLAND serving as pallbearers.

Among those from out of town who attended the service were Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy FRANCE, Charles FINLEY and Ralph YARGER of Dixon; Mr. and Mrs. Watson FRANCE, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph OLSSON, Mr. and Mrs. Lester LAW, Roy E. OLSSON, Marvin HOLLIS, Mrs. Howard OBERBILLIG, Mrs. Lester HOLLIS and Mrs. Henry OBERBILLIG of Rock Falls; Kenneth PETTIS, Ralph MATKE, Roy GROSSE and John BISSELL of Sterling; Mrs. Clara HANSEN, Mr. and Mrs. Frank CARLSON, R. E. OLMSTEAD, Charles BOESE and Ray UPTON of Prophetstown. Members of the Board of Education of the hgih school attended in a body and the high school faculty was represented by Miss Verna GRUETT and Frank EBMAN.

OBITUARY

Fred FRANCE, son of Solomen and Margaret FRANCE, was born April 25, 1868, in Hume township. His entire life was spent in this locality. He attended rural schools in this vicintiy and assisted his father on the farm.

He was married to Miss Lydia DOW on October 20, 1890 in Indianola, Neb. For seven years following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. FRANCE lived on the home farm after which they moved to Tampico. Mr. FRANCE was employed in Tampico and Rock Falls during the construction of the canal. He worked for the I.M.U. Co. for a number of years and since 1921 has been employed as janitor and fireman of the Tampico high school.

He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Margaret TEMPLE of Tampico and Mrs. Kathleen DOTTS of Los Angeles, Calif.; one son, LeRoy FRANCE of Dixon; nine grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Weeks of New London, Ohio, Mrs. Maggie OLSSON of Rock Falls, and Mrs. Minnie BROWN of Prophetstown.
