William John Eugene McCreedy was born to: Father: James McCreedy, b. 20 March 1820 in Delaware, d. 15 October 1894 in Bureau County, IL, buried in Lost Grove Cemetery, Arlington, Westfield Township, Bureau County, IL Mother: Ellen M. McDowell, b. 11 June 1840 in Chester County, PA, d. 30 May 1925, in Bureau County, IL, buried in Lost Grove Cemetery, Arlington, Westfield Township, Bureau County, IL WELL KNOWN RESIDENT SUMMONED WM. J. McCREEDY WAS LAID TO REST LAST SUNDAY AFTERNOON W. J. McCREEDY a well known resident of this community, passed away friday morning at an East Moline hospital where he had been for treatment for the past month. He had been in poor health for some time but had ever been uncomplaining and cheerful. He suffered a stroke Wednesday evening after whichhe never regainned consciousness. Funeral serices were held at the home Sunday afternoon at two o'clock and at the Methodist church at two-thirty, Rev. F. T. PALM of Chicago a former pastor here, gave a wonderful message of comfort using as his text verses from the 15th chapter of First Corinthians. He was assisted in the sevice by Rev. W. W. Maxwell pastor of the church. Two numbers, "One Sweetly Solemn Thought" and "Now the Day is Over" were sung by Mrs. J. A.NICHELSEN of Clinton, Iowa. She was accompanied at the piano by Mrs. R. F. WOODS. The chancel was banked with a large number of flowers beautifully arranged. There was not rooom enough in the church for the large number of relatives and friends who attended. Yorktown Lodge No. 655 A. F. & A. M., of which Mr. McCREEDY was a member, attended the services in a body and conducted their service at the grave. Interment was made inthe Tampico Memorial Cemetery, pallbearers, all Masons, were R. F. NELSON, E. W. VICKREY, R. F. WOODS, Tracy PIERCE, Willis BROWN and H. E. CAIN. McCREEDY son of Jamees and Ellen McCREEDY, was born in Arlington February 8, 1872 and passed away at 7:00 o'clock Friday morning, April 6th. He attended the schools of that place and the business college at Dixon, later attending the Rockford College for two years. He was married in 1898 to Dollie NEILL of Arlington. They moved to Rockford, later coming to Tampico where he resided for many years on his farm one mile west of twon where he engaged in farming and stock raising until he moved to the city in 1921. He was a member of Yorktown Lodge A. F. & A. M. and of Morning Star Chapter of the Eastern Star. He was also a director of the first National Bank of Tampico and was vice president of that institution until it closed. He has been Justice of the Peace for many years. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Grace of Centralia, Mrs. Ethel GOODE of Washington, D. C. and Dorothy at home. Also one brother, Albert of Arlington.
