Ethel McCreedy Weds

McCreedy: 1 Grace Vivan McCreedy, b. 9 July 1899 in Tampico, Whiteside County, IL, d. 13 March 1953 in Conrad Hilton Hotel, Chicago, Cook County, IL, cause of death suicide, buried 16 March 1953 in Tampico Memorial Cemetery, Tampico, Whiteside County, IL Grace’s story is quite tragic. She seems to have been a very well-educated woman as you can see in the attached Intimate Inklings article on Grace McCreedy completing her Master of Science in Education in 1938, from the scrapbook of her aunt Nellie Neill. She committed suicide by plunging from the Conrad Hilton hotel in Chicago as you’ll see in the attached suicide article of Grace McCreedy from the scrapbook of my grandmother Gertrude (Gronbach) McKee. The obituary of Grace McCreedy attached is from her Aunt Nellie Neill's scrapbook. My mother remembers her funeral (Mrs. Ivan Walter in her obituary) and how sad it was sine she taught High School English for some 20 years and was in her 50s when she committed suicide. She had some kind of nervous breakdown. Attached also is her stone at Tampico Cemetery. 2 Ethel McCreedy, b. 1 January 1902 in Tampico, Whiteside County, IL, m. Dr. Delmar Goode, 12 September 1927 in American Lake, WA, d. 17 March 1982 (I haven’t been able to find where Ethel was buried, but I see you don’t have a listing of GOODE at Tampico. From the scrapbook of her aunt Nellie Neill). 3 Dorothy Irene McCreedy, b. 9 August 1910 in Tampico, Whiteside County, IL, d. 12 June 1962 in Tampico, Whiteside County, IL, buried in Tampico Memorial Cemetery, Tampico, Whiteside County, IL I don’t have the obituary of Dorothy Irene McCreedy, but attached is a photo of her stone at Tampico Memorial Cemetery, and a photo found in a Neill Family Reunion book labeled “One of the McCreedy Girls.” We believe this to be a photo of Dorothy. 4 Infant McCreedy, b. 20 April 1913, d. 20 April 1913 in Tampico, Whiteside County, IL, buried in Tampico Memorial Cemetery, Tampico, Whiteside County, IL (I’m not sure there is a marker, I don’t have a photo of one).
