Yorktown: In the northwest corner of Bureau County is located the village of Yorktown, with a population of eighty-three. It is served by the postoffice at nearby Tampico (in adjoining Whiteside County). Yorktown is situated on US 92. It is the principal community of Fairfield Township, which in 1950 had a total population of 640. The township, established in 1850, is entirely devoted to agriculture.
