The death of Fr. T. O. Maguire who had served as pastor of St. Mary's church for the past sixteen years, came as a great shock to all the people of this community who knew and loved him. Fr. Maguire had been in ill health for some time having undergone a major operation a few months ago. However, he had seemed to be steadily improving and went to Chicago a week ago Monday accompanied by his sister, Miss Agnes Maguire, where he entered St. George's hospital for a checkup. He developed pneumonia and in spite of all that could be done for him, passed away at 3:45 Monday evening. His brother, Rev. Fr. Joseph Maguire D. C. S. of Notre Dame, was with him during his last illness.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's's church Friday morning at 11:00 and burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. The rosary will be at the church Thursday evening.
During the years Fr. Maguire made his home in Tampico, he made friends with all those with whom he came in contact and will be greatly missed not only by those in his parish but by all the community. He was not only tireless in his work in the church and among his parishioners, but was intensely interested in the affairs of the community and took an active part in all activities for the good of the village whenever possible.
