DIES AT DAUGHTER'S HOME
TAMPICO - Word has been received by Tampico friends that Nels Swanson passed away Thursday morning in the home of his duaghter, Mrs. Mabel Isaacson at Chicago. Teh remains will be brought to Tampico Saturday and funeral services will be held Sunday.

NELS SWANSON BURIED SUNDAY
Many Friends Attend Rites Held in Home
TAMPICO - Funeral services for the late Nels Swanson were held in the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. Warren Maxwell of the Tampico Methodist Church officiated, using for the text of his sermon, Luke 23:42, "Saying Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done." Mrs. N. E Denison sang two beautiful numbers, "Just for Today," and "When You come to the End of the Long, Long Road."
Friends acting as casket bearers were E. W. Meredith, Glenn Glassburn, William Furry, Pete Pedersen, Harry Peterson and Robert Glass.
Nels Swanson was born in Sweden, Sept. 12, 1858, and died at the home of a daughter in Chicago on Thursday, Nov. 17, 1932, at the age of 74 years, two months and five days. Mr. Swanson came to this country when 21 years old, settling in Tampico, Ill., where he lived until his death.
Shortly after coming to Tampico, he married Miss Cora Bailey, to which union was born one son, Stacey Swanson.
Thirty four years ago Mr. Swanson and Mathilda Ellison were united in marriage. Two children were born to them. Mabel and Arthur. She died ten years ago.
Seven years ago he married Mrs. Eunice Jaquet, who died four years ago.
Nels Swanson was a member of the First Methodist church of Tampico, having joined the local church Sept. 23, 1906, under the ministry of Rev. J. G. Armstrong.
Surviving him are one brother Peter Steele of Valley, Neb., one step-daughter, Mrs. Ethel Black; one son, Arthur of Flint, Mich.; one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Isaacson of Chicago, Ill.; and several grand children. One sister, Mrs. Peter Pierceson, preceded in death in 1930.
A good father, husband, neighbor and friend has gone to his eternal reward. He was kindly and sympathetic and his passing will be keenly felt by those who knew and loved him.

NELS SWANSON LAID AT REST
Passed Away Last Thursday After Very Brief Illness
The many friends of Nels Swanson were shocked last Thursday to hear of his death which occurrred on that date at the home of his daughter Mrs. John Isaacson in Chicago where he had gone for a visit only a few days before. On his arrival in the City he was so weak he had to be assisted from the train to a car and when he felt no better the next morning, a physician was called who pronounced his illnessas pneumonia. although everything possible was done forhis recovery, he passed away after only a few days illness.
The remains were brought here Saturday and funeral services were held at the late home in Tampico Sunday afternoon. Rev. Warren Maxwell, pastor of the Methodist church of which Mr. Swanson was a member, officiated, using the 42nd verse of the 22nd chapter of Luke, "Not My Will, but thine, be done," as his text. Mrs. N. E. Denison sang two beautiful numbers, "Just for Today" and "When I Come to the End of the Long, Long Road." She was unaccompanied.
Interment was made in the Tampico cemetery. Those who acted as pallbearers were Peter Peterson, Harry Peterson, E. W. Meredith, G. W. Glasburn, William Furry and Robert Glass, Sr.
Among those from out of town who attended the servcies were Mr. and Mrs. John Isaacson of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Stacy Swanson of Rock Falls, Arthur Swanson of Flint, Michigan and Lyle Harms of Deer Grove. (The following obituary was the same text as posted in the Gazette newspaper).
