Lucille M. Salzmann, 90 Corona, CA, formerly of Hooppole, IL passed away Friday, May 23, 2008 in Corona, CA. Memorial services were held today, Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the Zion United Methodist Church, Hooppole. Rev. Rodney Herrick pastor of the Zion United Methodist Church, Hooppole officiated the service. Cremation Rites have been accorded with interment of cremains In the Hooppole Funeral Home, Prophetstown was in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established to Zion United Methodist Church, Hooppole, IL.
Lucille was born January 16, 1918 in Harmon, IL to William and Edna (Hettinger) Stonesifer. She was educated in Harmon, IL area schools. She married Earl A. Salzmann on October 6, 1940 in Sterling, IL. He died on September 28, 1995.
She owned and operated Lucille's Beauty Shop in Hooppole, IL for many years. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Hooppole, IL and the church's Friendship circle. She enjoyed fishing and telling and being told a good joke. She was an excellent seamstress and known for baking wedding cakes.
Survivors include two daughters, Jana (Larry) Dowdy, Tamms, IL and Sherry Sherman, Corona, CA; five grandchildren, Lana (Joe) Schaeffer, Tod Dowdy, Jade Salzmann, Jennifer Sherman and Zack Sherman; nine great grandchildren, Phil, Seth, Aaron and Marcus Schaeffer; Amanda and BreeAnn Dowdy; Paige, Chace and Payton Salzmann; one sister, Madeline (Eddie) Jensen, Madison, WI; one brother, Billy (Lorraine) Stonesifer, Sterling, IL.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Earl; two sons, Wayne Salzmann and Darell Salzman [sic]; three sisters, Evelyn, Lola and Jane; one brother, Wayne Stonesifer.
