JEWELL (Bayles) PARRILL
Prophetstown: - Jewel Parrill, 97, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, formerly of Prophetstown, died Feb. 11, 1993, at Morrison Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Gardner Funeral Chapel, Prophetstown, with the Rev. Bruce Janes, pastor of Prophetstown United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Parrill was born Nov. 29, 1895, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Seymour and Ellen (Rumley) Bayles. She attended Northern Illinois University and was a graduate of Browns Business College. She married J. LaRue Parrill, Aug. 26, 1914, in Farina. They lived on the Parrill Homestead before coming to Whiteside County in 1918 where they lived in both Prophetstown and Sterling. She taught in Cloverdale rural school and was assistant teacher and office secretary at Browns Business College. She was also a news reporter for the Prophetstown Echo. She was a member of Prophetstown United Methodist Church.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978, two sisters and two brothers.
