OSCAR T. PLETSCH
Tampico: - Oscar T. Pletsch, 74, of 103 S. Fremont St., Tampico, died Friday, Nov. 3, 1995 at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10:L30 a.m. Monday at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Tampico, with a Mass of Christian Burial, with the Rev. Vincent J. Shindelar, pastor officiating, with a 10 a.m. prayer service at the Garland Funeral Home, Tampico. Burial will be at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Tampico. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a 7:30 p.m. scripture service. A memorial has been established in lieu of flowers.
Mr. Pletsch was born on Feb. 19, 1921 in Prophetstown, the son of John and Anna (Schafer) Pletsch. He married Mary J. Heeren on Feb. 7, 1945 in Tampico. He was educated in rural grade schools and was a 1938 graduate of Tampico High School. He farmed in the Tampico and Prophetstown area for 26 years and was later employed at the Sterling-Rock Falls Co-Op before retiring in 1985. He was as member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Tampico, the farm bureau and the Tampico Community Unit Booster Club for several years.
Survivors include his wife of Tampico; four daughters, Elizabeth (Larry) VanLanduit of Tampico, Connie (Kendall) DeMaranville of Geneseo, Debbie Bates of Florisant, Mo., and Diane (Barry) DeJarnatt of Sterling; four sons, James Pletsch of Ivor, Va., Gary Pletsch of Wilkinsburg, Pa., David (Lola) Pletsch of Sterling, and Daniel (Vicky) Pletsch of Prophetstown; 15 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Plautz of Rock Falls, and Alice Sandrock of Prophetstown; one brother, Edgar (Trula) Pletsch of Winnebego; one sister-in-law, Mildred (Sam) Pletsch Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
