DONALD C. KARN
Donald C. Karn, 80, of Prophetstown died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Prophet Riverview Good Samaritan Center.
He was born on February 4, 1928 in Thomas, IL, the son of Charles and Julia (Covell) Karn. He married Wilma Kennard on September 19, 1948 in Morrison. Mr. Karn was employed as a stock man at the former Frantz Manufacturing Co. in Sterling for 34 years before retiring. He then worked at the Super Wash in Prophetstown for 14 years. Mr. Karn was a member of the Lyndon United Methodist Church. He enjoyed history, studying maps and was an animal lover. He was a member of the John Wayne Birthplace Society.
Surviving is his wife, Wilma; two daughters, Linda Brown of Prophetstown and Debra Zink of Albuquerque, NM; two sons, Donald A. (Nancy) Karn of Davenport, IA and Larry (Barbara) Karn of Rock Falls; two sisters Margery Ridenour of Moline, IL and Marian Sikkema of Sterling, IL; two brothers, Roland (Betty) Karn of Silvis, IL and Merle (Karna) Karn of Bettendorf, Christopher (Malisa) Karn, Michael Karn, Darren Brown, Joshua (Brittney) Karn, Melissa Karn, Nicole Zink, Emily Zink and Jennifer McKusker; and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 20, 2008 in the McDonald Funeral Home, 46 Grove Street, Rt. 78 North in Prophetstown, IL with the Rev. Meg Zigler, pastor of the Lyndon United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory have been established to the Lyndon United Methodist Church Building Fund.
