Emma Calsyn of Tampico Dies



Tampico: - Mrs. Emma Marie, 81, oF Tampico, died Friday evening in Colonial Acres Rest Home, Sterling.



Funeral rites will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Eugene Parker officiating.  The burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tampico.



There will be visitation at the Schmitt Chapel after 9 a.m. Sunday and a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel.



Mrs. Calsyn was born in St. Laurins, Belgium, Sept. 23, 1889, daughter of John and Florence Buysse Staelens.  She was united in marriage to Alfons Calsyn in 1912 in Belgium.  They came to the United States in 1912 and settled in Moline, where they resided five years, then moved to Tampico where Mrs. Calsyn had since resided.  She was a member of  St. Mary’s Church of Tampico and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.  Her husband died in 1954.



Surviving are three sons, Willie of Walnut, Frank of Tampico and Lawrence of Davenport, Iowa; 19 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother in Belgium and a brother, Andrew Staelens of Rock Falls.  A son, Andrew, preceded in death in 1959, also two sisters, including Mrs. Julius Hendricks, and a brother Edward.

Tampico: - Services for Mrs. Emma Marie Calsyn, 81, of Tampico, were held Monday, Jan. 4 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church at Tampico.



The Rev. Eugene Parker of St. Mary’s officiating.  Rosary was recited at Schmitt Chapel on Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. led by the Rev. Parker.



Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Fernando Roush, Peter Burke, Joseph Burke, Charles Hamblock, Kamiel Driessen and Julius Driessen served as casket bearers.  Joseph Burke led prayer service at Chapel Monday morning.
