HENRY  BERGE

Prophetstown Citizen Found Dead In His Bed

Henry Berge Passes Away In night -- Paralysis Is Cause of Death

Prophetstown, Illinois, June 14 - (Special) - Henry Berge of Prophetstown was found dead in his bed this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Hilger, where he had made his home recently.  A stroke of paralysis during the night was the cause of his death.

Mr. Berge was 65 years of age.  On Monday he was able to be down town and Tuesday morning he stated that he did not feel well and a physician was sent for.  His illness was not apparently critical, but when his daughter went to his room this morning to inquire how he felt, she found that he had passed away.

Most of Mr. Berge's life was spent in this vicinity, where he was a well known and highly respected farmer for many years, retiring some time ago to make his home in Prophetstown with his daughter.  He was born in Germany and came to America when a boy.  Mrs. Berge preceded him in death a number of years ago. Surviving children are Mrs. George Hilger and Alfred Berge of Prophetstown; Mrs. Tesky, Mrs. Herman Yonk and Mrs. Lena Johnson, of Manlius.

Beside his children, he leaves the following brothers and sisters:  August Berge of Prophetstown, Conrad Berge of Milledgeville, Fred Berge of Sterling, John Berge of Moline, Mrs. Mary Acker of Tampico and Mrs. Fred Eisle of Iowa.

Funeral srvices will be conducted at Yorktown by Rev. William E. Krebs of Rock Falls on Sunday, the hour of the services to be determined later.  Interment will be in the Yorktown cemetery.  Mr. Berge leaves a multitude of friends in this vicinity who will be grieved to hear of his sudden passing and who will extend their sympathy to the family.
