J.A. HAMBLOCK TAKEN BY DEATH
Funeral services for Joseph A. Hamblock were held at 9:30 Tuesday morning in St. Mary's church with Rev. Fr. Ambrose Weitekamp conducting the high requiem mass. Committal was in St. Mary's cemetery with Wayne Brophy of Dixon, William Cooney, William Burke, Alfonse Calsyn, Julius Hendricks and J.H. Hellier as pallbearers. Relatives from Sterling, Hooppole and Prophetstown were among those who attended the services.
The rosary was recited at the home Monday evening. Joseph Anthony Hamblock, son Anthony and Ellen Hamblock, was born May 27, 1868 on the Hamblock homestead one and a half miles southeast of Tampico where he spent his entire life. He passed away in his sleep Sunday morning at the age of 78.
Mr. Hamblock received his education in the Tampico and Sterling schools. On Nov. 18, 1908, he married Delia Buechel who preceded him in death March 19, 1942. He engaged in farming and in his younger days his great enjoyment of music led him to form an orchestra in which he played the clarinet. He also played in the Tampico Band years ago.
Mr. Hamblock is survied by two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Ruhl of Chicago and Miss Dorothy Hamblock of Sterling, who with the former's husband and sons James and Stephen had arrived at the Hamblock home Saturday evening for a short visit. His son Charles, with his wife and daughter Charlyne lived on the farm with him.
