Alice D. Underwood, age 79, of 6701 W. Plank Road, Peoria, Illinois and formerly of Kasbeer, Illinois died Friday November 27, 2009 at Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria.

Alice was born on January 25, 1930 in Tampico, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Ida (Newman) Rosene. She worked as a CNA at Colonial Hall and Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, Illinois and the Walnut Manor Nursing Home during her lifetime. She loved gardening, flowers, and dancing, especially the polka.

She is survived by one son Larry E. (Patti) Underwood of Mapleton, Illinois; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers Clyde (Miriam) Rosene of Princeton, Illinois, Neil (Brenda) Rosene of Springfield, Missouri; one sister Ethel Rosene of Tampico, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Alice fought severe dementia the last years of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Alzheimer and Dementia research to help understand and fight this devastating disease.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Tampico Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Monty Fox, pastor of the Tampico United Methodist Church officiating.
