Arthur Wetzell

TAMPICO – Arthur L. Wetzell, 81, of Tampico, died Monday, June 28, 2010, at CGH Medical Center. He farmed in the Tampico area.

Mr. Wetzell was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Sterling, the son of Paul D. and Monafae (Price) Wetzell. He married Marjorie Brown on July 26, 1947, in Tampico. She preceded him in death on Feb. 15, 2007. He was a member of Tampico United Methodist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Douglas Wetzell of Deer Grove, Paul (Nancy) Wetzell of Rock Falls, and Randy (Anna) Wetzell and Larry Wetzell, both of Tampico; one brother, Richard (Lois) Wetzell of Rock Falls; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Doris Green of Thomson.

He also was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one grandson, and one great-grandson.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Tampico United Methodist Church with the Rev. Monty Fox, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Arrangements were completed by Garland Funeral Home, Tampico.

Memorials have been established to Tampico United Methodist Church and Tampico Fire Department.
