GLENN  R  WROTEN

Glenn Wroten, Former Tampico Farmer, Dies

Tampico: - GLEN  R.  WROTEN  - 65, Rogers, Ark., a retired farmer of the Tampico, Ill., area, died early Sunday in Rogers.

He was born in Tampico, June 21, 1889, and lived there most of his life.  He married the former Anna M. Buchman of Dixon.

Survivors are his widow and a sister, Mrs. Grace Renner, Moline.  Mr. Wroten was a veteran of World War I.

Funeral services were held in Rogers, Monday, and the body will arrive in Dixon Wednesday afternoon.  Services will be held in Chapel Hill Funeral home Thursday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Vernon Gibb, of Peoria Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call Wednesday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.

GLENN  R.  WROTEN  -  born in Tampico, Ill., June 21, 1889, the son of Robert and Dora Wroten, and passed away Sunday, June 12, at his home in Rogers, Ark., where he had moved in June 1953.  

Mr. Wroten was a member of the Baptist Church in Tampico 36 years. He served as trustee for many years and later as deacon.  He served in France in World War I and was a member of the American Legion Post 574, Tampico, Ill.  

He married Anna Buchman in Ashton, Ill. Jan. 14, 1925, and is survived by one sister, Mrs. Grace Renner of Moline, Ill.

Funeral services were held int he Callison - Porter Chapel, Rogers, Ark., on Monday, June 13, and then at the Chapel Hill Funeral home, Dixon, Ill. on Thursday afternoon, June 16.

The services at Dixon were conducted by the Rev. Vernon Gibb, pastor of the El Vista Baptist Church, Peoria, former pastor of the Tampico Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. Calvin Roy, present pastor of the Tampico Baptist Church.  Two hymns "Face to Face" and "Ivory Palace" were sung by Mrs. Maynard Peterson and Mrs. Archie Yards Sr.

Pallbearers were Frank Gerber, Glenn Carlson, Elmer Wallgren, Wayne Rose, Andrew Saathoff and Maynard Peterson. Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Dixon.
