Benjamin Jones, 89, Dies Early Saturday

Tampico: - Benjamin F. Jones, 89, passed away early Saturday morning at Community General Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 Monday at the Parent Funeral Chapel, Tampico. The Rev. Ellis Beaman, pastor of the Church of Christ, will officiate and burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery.

Benjamin Jones was born April 27, 1865, in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and when he was a young boy came to live with an uncle, Benjamin Petsman, in Illinois.  He was married to Lucy Ellen Grimes, Sept. 4, 1887, in Woodson County, Kansas. The couple farmed in Kansas, Illinois and Michigan until 1940 when they retired and moved to Tampico.  Mrs. Jones died Dec. 9, 1950.  Mr. Jones was a member of the Yorktown Church of Christ.

Surviving are one son, Harry O. of DeKalb; three daughters, Mrs. W. R. (Lona) Pierceson of Prophetstown, Mrs. Orville (Lois) Meredith of Highland Park, and Miss Helen Jones, at home; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. George (Alice) Pentland in 1918 and Mrs. Bernard (Lula Madge) Egert in 1920.
