Tampico: - Laura M. Verdick, 86, of 207 Benton Street in Tampico, died Saturday evening in Community General Hospital in Sterling.
Funeral prayer services will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tampico at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Leo Ambre officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Tampico. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. with a Scripture service at 8 p.m. A memorial has been established in her memory to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tampico.
Mrs. Verdick was born on Oct. 17, 1899 in Prophetstown, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Schriner Egert. She was united in marriage to Julius A. Verdick on June 16, 1920 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hooppole, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1978. Mrs. Verdick was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tampico and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.
Survivors include her two sons, Dean of Deer Grove, and Shirley of Hooppole; two daughters, Mrs. George (Shirley) Forward Jr of Tampico and Mrs. Rita Frank of Manlius; 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren; two brothers, Perry Egert of Prophetstown and Norbert Egert of Rock Island; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Wildemuth and Mrs. Sylvia Paxton, both of Prophetstown, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Willard, two grandchildren in infancy and two brothers.
