MARY ELEANOR (Keefe) MURPHY
Sterling: - Mary Eleanor Murphy, 68, of 401 West 11th St., Sterling, died Nov. 13, 1993, at CGH Medical Center following a two year bout with cancer.
Prayer services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Grennan Funeral Home, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection at St. Mary's Church, Sterling, with the Rev. Thomas Bales and Msgr. Raymond J. Wahl officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery,
Tampico. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a rosary at 7:45 p.m. A memorial has been established to Newman High School.
Mrs. Murphy was born Sept. 10, 1925 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of David Cecil and Margaret (Carter) Keefe. She married Charles L. Murphy, April 14, 1951 at St. Mary's, Tampico. She graduated from Catholic Community High School in 1943, from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1947 with a B.S. in chemistry. She was a chemist at John Deere Co. and the Mayo Clinic until her marriage in 1951. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish, Sterling, and the Altar and Rosary Society; Clark College Alumni Association; and American Mensa Ltd.
Survivors include her husband; four children, Mrs. James (Maureen) Neff of Lakewood, Ohio, Mrs. Charles L. (Marcia) Murphy, Jr., of Darien, Mrs. Dr. Mark (Margaret Rose) Mayer of University Heights, Ohio, and Thomas R. (Alison) Murphy of Whitefish Bay, Wis.; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. John F. (Margaret) Wahl of Sterling; and one brother, Thomas (Patricia) Keefe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
