Walnut - Edward C. Lauritzen, age 96, who lived with his son Glenn in Peoria, Il. and formerly of Walnut, Il. died Thursday December 16,2010 in Proctor Hospital in Peoria, Il.
Edward was born on April 30, 1914 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Charles and Martha Shultz Lauritzen. He was united in marriage to Hazel L. Stocking on June 11, 1934 in Princeton, Illinois and she preceded her in death on June 7, 2005. He was a member of Walnut American Legion Post #179, was an avid Cubs fan, and a former volunteer Walnut fireman. He worked for many years at GBH-WAY Homes in Walnut and retired about 34 years ago. He served in The U.S. Army during W.W. II.
He is survived by three sons Glenn (Debby) Lauritzen of Peoria, Illinois, Eugene (Mary) Lauritzen of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, Roger (Diane) Lauritzen of Rockford, Illinois, one daughter Gloria Kreider of Ohio, Illinois; ten grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 half brothers Max (Carol) Lauritzen and Richard Lauritzen both of Princeton, Il. numerous nieces and nephews, and his extended families in the Peoria area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 grandson, and 1 brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with the Rev. Garland Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Repose Cemetery in Dover, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of Services at The Garland Funeral Home.
