Emily Jean Purdue

PROPHETSTOWN – Emily Jean Purdue, 83, of Rock Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown.

Mrs. Purdue was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Prophetstown, the daughter of Nathan and Jessie (Dingel) Hand. 

She married Vernon Purdue on July 31, 1955, in Sterling. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sterling.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon; one daughter, Joanne Greiner of Brookfield; one son, Gary Roth of Woodstock one brother, Don (Lorraine) Hand of Prophetstown; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five nieces; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Doering; and two brothers, Robert and Harvey Hand.

There are no services. Cremation rites have been accorded.
