HELEN NELLIE (Brophy) KELLY JAMES
Morrison: Helen Nellie (Kelly) James - 81, of the Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, died Wednesday evening at the Morrison Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, preceded by a 9:30 a.m. prayer service at the Renkes-Reynolds Funeral Home. The Rev. Philip Kennedy will officiate. Burial will be in
St. Mary's Cemetery, Tampico. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday with a Christian Wake service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established by her family.
Helen Alice Brophy was born Nov. 23, 1900 in Tampico, the daughter of John and Olive (O'Connor) Brophy. She was reared in Tampico and was united in marriage to Francis Kelly on Jan. 26, 1921 in Tampico. He preceded her in death in 1939. Following marriage they farmed in the Tampico area. In 1941, she moved to Morrison where she operated a restaurant for a number of years and was a cook at the Morrison Hospital. She was united in marriage to Port James in 1947 and he also preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Morrison.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Jeri Renkes, Morrison, Mrs. Kenneth (Helen) Millerschone, Rochelle, Mrs. Kent (Peggy) Foreman, Mrs. Kenneth (Molly) Jones and Mrs. Burton (Rita) Seaman, all of Morrison; two sons, James, Andulusia, Iowa, and Frank, Morrison; 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; one brother, James, C. Brophy, Sterling and one sister, Mrs. Kathryn Forward, Tampico.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and one grandson.
