OCALA, Fla. — Ruth Ellen Cummings, 84 of Ocala, Fla., passed away Monday, March 12, 2012.
The daughter of Lester R. Jacobs and Martha Heard, she was a graduate of Princeton High School and continued her studies at Bradley University in Peoria, where she met her future husband, Lt. Col. Dan M. Cummings. As the wife of a career Army officer, Mrs. Cummings enjoyed the years they were stationed in Germany and traveled extensively throughout Europe.
Surviving are her four children and daughter-in-law, Linda Griffith of Oxford, Ga., Janice Tarter-Smith of Ft. McCoy, Fla., Glenn and Susan Cummings of Tampa, Fla., and Alice Carson of Germantown, Md.; grandchildren, Christopher Griffith, Melanie Tarter, Danielle Cummings, and Rachel and Ethan Carson; and a great-grandson, Nicholas Griffith. Mrs. Cummings is also survived by her brother, Robert L. Jacobs of Ocala, Fla.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Tampico Memorial Cemetery in Tampico. Local arrangements completed by the McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.
