Laurine Elizabeth Hoffman
STERLING – Laurine Elizabeth Hoffman, 93, of Sterling, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Prophetstown.
Laurine was born July 18, 1919, in Glen Elder, Kan., the daughter of Harvey and Mabel (Hendricks) Nusbaum. She married Henry L. Hoffman on Sept. 28, 1940, in Clinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1994. She was a 65-year member of First United Methodist Church in Sterling.
Survivors include five sons, Ronald (Donna) Hoffman and Roger (Kathy) Hoffman, both of Rock Falls, David (Ellen) Hoffman of Sterling, Dennis (Julie) Hoffman of Coupeville, Wash., and Duane Hoffman of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters, Arleta Harms of Rock Falls and Joyce Baker of Charlotte, N.C.; three brothers, Donald Nusbaum of Park Ridge, and Paul (Pat) Nusbaum and Charles (Alberta) Nusbaum, both of Dixon; one sister-in-law, Zilma Nusbaum of Sterling; 10 grandchildren, Christine Hoffman, Jeffrey (Jill) Hoffman, Chad (Maria) Hoffman, Ben (Dana) Hoffman, Karl Hoffman, Jennifer Hoffman, Stacey (Junior) Hoffman Rosalez, Matt (Shelley) Hoffman, Evan Hoffman, and Olivia Hoffman; seven great-grandchildren, Benjamin Hoffman, Julia Hoffman, Morgan Hoffman, Alex Hoffman, Aidan Hoffman, Violet Hoffman, and Kelton Hoffman; and one great-great-grandchild, Bradyn Hoffman.
She also was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Sharp, Evelyn Lobdell, and Pauline Wills; and four brothers, Wayne, Deane, Wilmer and Brad Nusbaum.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Paul Judd, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
Memorials have been established to Hospice of the Valley in Mesa, Ariz.; VITAS Hospice in LaSalle; and First United Methodist Church in Sterling.
