PROPHETSTOWN – Maxine M. Specht, 85, formerly of Tampico, died Monday, April 22, 2013, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown.

Maxine was born July 1, 1927, in Tampico, the daughter of Clyde and Mildred (Frank-Brooks) Denison. She was united in marriage to Arnold “Joe” Specht on Feb. 10, 1945, in Atkinson. He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1992. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tampico.

She is survived by one daughter, Paula Gladfelter of Prophetstown; one son, Larry Joe (Krista) Specht of Tampico; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two sisters, Terry (George) Blackert of Prophetstown and Helen (Lester) Joynt of Dixon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m., with the rosary recited at 10 a.m., Thursday and the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tampico, with Monsignor Thomas Dzielak, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Tampico. Garland Funeral Home in Tampico is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to VITAS Hospice.
