Jesse Roy Jones
August 30, 1991 - December 10, 2013
JESSE ROY JONES, 22, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013.
Jesse was born August 30, 1991, in Prophetstown, IL, to Bruce A. and Rebecca J. (Arnold) Jones. Jesse enjoyed a diverse and hands-on learning experience through his parents’ North Farm Home School, from which he graduated with a high school diploma. On March 16, 2013 he married Deneé R. Stone in Clinton, IA. Jesse was lovingly employed at Cindy Jeans Restaurant up until the recent devastating Prophetstown fire. Afterwards he took up landscaping, furniture installation, construction with the Amish and any other work he could find in order to provide for his wife. He worked long hours and never gave less than his best work at every job he had, and enjoyed his relationships with all his bosses and supervisors. Jesse was a “devoted servant” at Open Bible Fellowship in Morrison, IL. He was a member of the “Morrison Grand Squares” square dance club. He pursued quality in all areas of his life, always willing to pay more for healthy and wholesome food, and choosing the best possible theater and seat in which to watch the latest film. He loved to read and had a deep, creative spirit that spilled into everything, from long talks about the character of God, to the many love letters he wrote his wife throughout their relationship. At certain points in his life, Jesse took up painting miniature figurines, drawing with lead pencil, and digital art such as photography and video. He also completed five months of mission work in Kijabe, Kenya during the winter of 2012. While there he felt God cementing in him a servant’s heart as he served chai to patients at the local hospital. Upon his return from Kenya, he strove to find ways to put his quiet but willing soul to work doing whatever God called him to do. Jesse was a man who desired nothing for himself, but only to serve the Lord and love his wife as fiercely and compassionately as possible.
Survivors include his wife, Deneé; his parents, Bruce and Becky Jones of Prophetstown, IL; his paternal grandparents, David and Marian Jones of WI; three sisters, Kate Jones of WI, Clara and Helen Jones, both of Prophetstown; five brothers, Timothy Jones of CA, Sam Jones of Prophetstown, Emlyn Jones of Vermont, Isaiah and Lael Jones, both of Prophetstown.
