Roger L. Chriest, 68, of Rock Falls, died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 2, 1945 in Elgin he was a son of Charles W. and Eula Mae (Bruder) Chriest. He was united in marriage to Mary Davis on October 3, 1965 at Tampico United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Rock Falls United Methodist Church and adored his family especially his grandchildren. Roger was a Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He served in the US Army during Vietnam.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Mary, of Rock Falls; his children Amy (Scott) Garriott and Beth (Craig) Wilson both of Sterling; his mother Eula Mae of Tampico; his grandchildren, Sydnie Garriott, Whitnie Garriott, Brooke Wilson and Emma Wilson; his sisters, Ida Staelens of Moline and Anna (Randy) Wetzell of Tampico; his brothers, Danny Chriest and Steve Chriest both of Tampico and Tim (Kathy) Chriest of Aurora and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother in infancy and a sister Susie Mitchell.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 10 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with Reverend Richard Fassig, pastor of Rock Falls United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery, Rock Falls.
