ATKINSON – Kenneth E. Thorman, 80, of Atkinson, formerly of Wyoming, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo.
Ken was born July 26, 1933, in Macomb, the son of Joseph and Grace (Northrup) Thorman. He was a graduate of Bardolph High School. He proudly served in the Army. He married Sherry Rankin and later married Sarah Landsiedel. Ken had farmed the rural Avon and Prophetstown area. He also was employed as a salesman for Foley-Gill Ford Truck Parts, retiring in 2013. Ken attended Wyoming United Methodist Church and enjoyed beekeeping.
Survivors include his children, Becky (Rob) Reiling of Atkinson, Laura (Dave) Grimes and Shelly (Vernon) Jaquet, both of Tampico, Paul (Carrie) Thorman of Clinton, Iowa, Steven (Trish) Thorman of Fort Rucker, Ala., and Carrie Thorman of Polo; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Waller of Table Grove, Betty Nelson of Bardolph, and Wilma (Richard) Wilson of Sciota; and brothers, Lloyd (Tina) Thorman, Wayne (Helen) Thorman, and Marvin (Alice) Thorman, all of Macomb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sally; granddaughter, Joanie; brothers, Raymond and Henry; and two brothers-in-law.
Visitation will for Ken will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday and a funeral service celebrating his life will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Vandemore Funeral Homes in Atkinson, with the Rev. Kathy Crozier officiating. Burial will be at Bushnell Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Kenneth Thorman Memorial Fund.
