PROPHETSTOWN – Arlyn S. Cady, 90, of Prophetstown, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at his home.

Arlyn was born Dec. 19, 1923, in Prophetstown, the son of Leslie H. and Lillie (Bridgestock) Cady. He was educated at Yorktown Grade School, and graduated in 1942 from Tampico High School. Arlyn was a veteran of the Army Corps of Engineers, serving during World War II in the European theater. He married F. Lucille Carlson on May 16, 1948, in Tampico. She preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 2011

For 40 years, Arlyn owned and operated Cady Implement Co. in Yorktown. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown, Prophetstown American Legion Post 522, Prophetstown Masonic Lodge, and the Prophetstown Lions Club. He was a past member of the Tampico Fire Department. Arlyn enjoyed golfing and fishing, and having breakfast at the Eureka Inn in Prophetstown.

Survivors include two daughters, Renee (Bob) Andrews of Sterling and Ronna (Mike) Sobottka of Walnut; one son, Randy (Denise) Cady of Yorktown; nine grandchildren, Addison Mills, Jacob Swanson, Sara and Adam Sobottka, Alicia, Andrea and Catrina Cady, Kimberly (Justin) Kelly, and Jeffrey (Kristie) Cady; and eight great-grandchildren, Haleigh Peterson, Trinzel Lewis, Asante and Milani Hannah, Gillian and Austin Kelly, and Owen and Khloe Cady.

He also was preceded in death by one son, Richard Cady; and two brothers, Ward and Leslie Joe Cady.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown, with the Rev. Judith Huseth, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown and Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon.
