2015 - John Skwiercz
TAMPICO — John Skwiercz, 69, of Tampico died Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the home of his daughter, Jill Grunder.
The Garland Funeral Home in Tampico is in charge of arrangements.
John Skwiercz March 5, 1946 - Aug. 12, 2015 LAKEVILLE - John Skwiercz, 69, died August 12, 2015, at 3:30 pm after a yearlong battle with Leukemia. John was born March 5, 1946, in South Bend, IN. Mr. Skwiercz is survived by four children: Jennifer Grindstaff, age 41 of Buchanan, MI, Jill (Josh) Grunder, age 38 of Tampico, IL, Jacqueline Skwiercz, age 28 of Lakeville, IN, and John J. Skwiercz, age 23 of South Bend, IN. He leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson, Lyle. He is also survived by three brothers, Joseph Skwiercz, age 90 of Granger, IN, Aloysius Skwiercz, age 84 of Elkhart, IN, and Bernard Skwiercz, age 73 of Seattle, WA. John was a USMC Vietnam War veteran. He was a Post Commander of American Legion Post 50 in South Bend, IN. He worked at Simon Brothers/Clark's Food Service for over 20 years, and he retired from the USPS after 20 plus years as a truck driver. He loved the outdoors, especially Polish horseshoes. He was also an avid Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts fan, and ran a number of marathons. He was also an avid bowler for years. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 Grace St., South Bend, IN 46619. He will be interred in a family plot at St. Joseph Cemetery in South Bend, IN. St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend, IN, is assisting the family.
