SUE A. SCHROEDER, 80, of Prophetstown, IL, died Friday, September 11, 2015, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL.
Sue was born April 18, 1935, in Dixon, IL, to David E. and Kathryn M. (Coffey) Gardner She was educated in the St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School in Dixon, IL and was a 1953 graduate of Dixon High School. She attended Northern Illinois Teacher’s College in DeKalb, IL. Sue married George Rodney Schroeder on February 5, 1955 in Fort Chaffee, AR. She was first employed as a rural mail carrier for the Prophetstown Post Office while also working for the Prophetstown Park District. Later she worked as a teacher aid for the Prophetstown School District. Sue was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Prophetstown. She was active as an AFS host family. She served on the Prophetstown Park District Board and was a member of the Prophetstown Main Street organization and the PLT Education Foundation. Sue was a member of St. Mary’s B and B Club. She enjoyed spending time at her family cottage on the
river near Dixon and with her children, grandchildren, and her friends.
Survivors include her husband, George; two daughters, Mary Beth (Lynn) Landherr of Lanark, IL and Julie (fiancé Ted Ranz) Schroeder of Sterling, IL; two sons, Richard (Diana) Schroeder of Johnstown, PA and Thomas (Jacque) Schroeder of Sterling, IL; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one great grandchild; seven step great grandchildren; one sister, Jane Clinker of Dixon, IL and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Kathryn Alice Schroeder; one step great-granddaughter, Remi Hawkins; one sister, Rita Conroy; and one brother, Gail Gardner.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at St. Catherine Catholic Church – Prophetstown, IL
OFFICIATING: Rev. Father Francis Wawryszuk – Pastor: St. Catherine Catholic Church – Prophetstown, IL
VISITATION: 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, September 14, 2015 at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, 320 Lafayette Street, Prophetstown, IL
CREMATION RITES HAVE BEEN ACCORDED
INTERMENT OF CREMATED REMAINS: Oakwood Cemetery – Dixon, IL at a later date.
