Anita K. Elgin, age 61, of Tampico, died Sunday, October 18, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Anita was born January 24, 1954, in Princeton the daughter of Lester and Alice (Saathoff) Peach. She married Ron Elgin on December 8, 1979. Anita was currently employed at the Sterling Public Library where she was the Head Children's Librarian. She worked there for 40 years and was affectionately known as "Miss Anita". She started the Sterling Storytelling Festival and was active in the Red Cross, Royal Neighbors and was on the Park and Rec Board in Tampico. She was a huge advocate of baseball and softball in Tampico and was known as "Softball Mom". She loved books and was an avid Packers and Cardinal fan. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tampico.
Survivors include her husband, Ron of Tampico; three daughters, Erin (Luke) Shank of Sterling, Jamie Mosher of Rock Falls and Wendi (Karley) Ketchum of Tampico; two sisters, Leann (Dean) Bill of Sheffield and Audry (Duane) Riedell of Davenport, Iowa; one brother, Roger Peach of Spring Valley; seven grandchildren, Emily, Ashley, Rozlyn, Eliott, Kain, Kit and Macaia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Vernon and Bernadine Elgin; and her sister-in-law, Janice Sorrentino.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 21, 2015, from 2-4 and 5-8 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Chaplain Don Johnston of Beacon of Hope Hospice officiating. Burial will be at Tampico Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
