Dale H. Sobottka, age 88, of Deer Grove, IL, died Saturday, June 13, 2015, at the Walnut Manor Nursing Home in Walnut.

Dale was born on June 4, 1927, the son of Henry and Freda (Kaempf) Sobottka in Plum City, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Joyce Baggie on May 6, 1950, in Ellsworth, Wisconsin. He was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire Company in Sterling, Illinois for 34 years as a dye maker. Dale was Township trustee and supervisor for 48 years and also served on the Deer Grove Village Board for over 50 years. He was  a member of the Tampico United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Deer Grove, IL; two sons Henry (Violet) Sobottka of Rock Falls, IL, Michael (Ronna) Sobottka of Walnut, IL; two daughters Nancy McNee of Portage, MI, Vera (John) Noe of Moline, IL; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother Roger (Yvonne) Sobottka) of East Moline, IL; four sisters Carol (Burt) Huneke of Red Wing, MN, Ellen (Gene) Kerchner of Durand, WI, Joyce Hawke of Waconia, MN, Janie (Jack) Tepstra of Coon Rapids, MI, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and his stepfather Earl Wider.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial servies will be held on Thursday June 18, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Tampico United Methodist Church with the Rev. Leanne Keate, pastor officiating. Visistation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial of cremains will be in Walnut Cemetery.
