Harold C. Dietz

WALNUT – Harold C. “Mick” Dietz, 93, formerly of Harmon, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at the Heritage Manor in Walnut.
Harold was born Aug. 21, 1922, in Harmon, the son of William P. and Ethel (Parker) Dietz. He married Jean Blocher on June 2, 1944, in Maquoketa, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 2011. Harold farmed all his life in the Harmon area and was a truck driver with the Teamsters Union. He was a member of Harmon United Methodist Church and the Walnut Masonic Lodge for more than 70 years. Harold was involved in the local CB radio club for several years and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary (Tom) Parrott of Fruitland, Iowa, and Diane (Dave) Schoenholz of Dixon; five sons, Mike (Sally) Dietz of Georgia, John Dietz of Nevada, Joe (Carol) Dietz and David (Susan) Dietz, both of Walnut, and Jimmy (Anita) Dietz of Texas; two brothers, Lowell “Bud” (Arlene) Dietz of Lanark and Jack (Gloria) Dietz of Harmon; 30 grandchildren; many great-grand and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Leota Johnson and Wilma Blackorby; and one daughter, Wilma Paris.
Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, and the funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Walnut Community Bible Church, with the Rev. Eldon Cook and the Rev. Leanne Keate co-officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Harmon.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Garland Funeral Home in Walnut handled arrangements.
