Barton L. Hoogheem

August 14, 1962 - May 10, 2016

BARTON L. HOOGHEEM, 53, of Prophetstown, IL, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at home as a result of an accident.

Barton was born August 14, 1962, in Sycamore, IL, to Arnold and Lorraine (Buelow) Hoogheem. He was a graduate of Fulton High School and attended Clinton Community College in Clinton, IA. He then graduated from Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL with honors. Bart was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Dorothy Desouzaguedes in 1990. He was first employed by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad as a brakeman. He later was self employed as a carpenter and jack of all trades. Bart was extremely proud of being a veteran and participated in many military celebrations.

Survivors include one son, Connor Hoogheem of Ankeny, IA; two brothers, Craig (Cindy) Hoogheem of Morrison, IL and Steve (Terri) Hoogheem of Clinton, IA; a stepfather, Donald C. Weidman of Mt. Carroll, IL; four stepsisters, Julie (Bob) Zuidema of Morrison, IL; Donna (Paul) Parker of Fulton, IL; Lorrie (Tom) Hartman of Fulton, IL; and Barb (Kevin) Reibel of Savanna, IL; one stepbrother, Doug Weidman of Mt. Carroll, IL; and a special friend, Annie Deck of Prophetstown, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Information

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2:15 P.M., Saturday, June 11, 2016, at First Lutheran Church, Prophetstown, IL followed by visitation until 4:00 P.M.

CREMATION RITES HAVE BEEN ACCORDED

INTERMENT OF CREMAINS: Rock Island National Cemetery - Rock Island, IL
