ERIE - Lanae Joy Newman, 29 days old, of Erie, died peacefully at 2:12 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at home.
Lanae was born at 6:38 pm. Tuesday, November 29, 2016, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was 4 pounds, 3 ounces and 18 inches long. After 29 blessed days, Lanae passed away in her parents' arms, with family surrounding her. Lanae had been diagnosed with the genetic disorder Trisomy 18 and died of heart failure.
Lanae had a full head of dark hair. She also had her mother's dark eyes, little ears, and long fingers and toes. Lanae was a persistent fighter as she outlasted most doctor's expectations. She always was comfortable and never in any pain.
She was a very laid back baby who always was peaceful, but very alert for a tiny newborn. Lanae loved to snuggle with her mother, father, and big brother, Silas.
Lanae is survived by her parents Isaac and Lindsay Newman, and her brother Silas Newman of Erie. She also is survived by her maternal grandparents, Terry and Gayle Green of Erie, her paternal grandparents, Daniel Newman of Tampico and Donna Celaya of Cherryvale, Kansas. She also is survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, with the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at Erie Christian Church in Erie. Private burial will be at Erie Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Lanae Joy Newman Memorial Fund, in care of Isaac Newman.
