GLEASON, Wis. Neil Jay Moore, 79, of Gleason, formerly of Tampico, died on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Neil was born July 25, 1928, in Tampico, to George and Clover (Nielson) Moore. Neil met his current wife, Barbara Young Krause, at a town meeting related to horse rustlers in Ashton. They were married in 1981. A year later they relocated to Gleason, where they farmed and got involved with horses.
Neil was a carpenter, farmer, horse trader, and humane officer for several counties. He served proudly in the Marine Corps for 10 years.
He was president of Northwood Mounted Search and Rescue organization and enjoyed deer hunting, farm auctions, and draft horses. Watching wild turkeys and deer, and talking with the guys at Krist Oil, brought Neil daily enjoyment.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara, of Gleason; three children, Tammy Moore of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Kevin Moore of Illinois and Gene Moore of Arizona; the Krause family, Tom, Rose, Jake, Andy, and Sarah Krause; a sister, Ellen Chapman; several grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at Yorktown Cemetery, with Pastor Scott Porter officiating.
