Sigrid Marie Pierson, a lifelong resident of Tampico, IL died Saturday at the Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown at the age of 97.

She was born in New Bedford, IL in 1893.

Mrs. Pierson is survived by a son, Nels L. Pierson, of Hinsdale, IL, who is President and Chairman of the Board of the A.A.A. Chicago Motor Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Engerman Olson, who were born in Sweden; her husband, Nels Pierson, who ran a blacksmith shop in Tampico for more that 35 years; her daughter, Nadine Mack of Mount Prospect, IL; her brothers, Alfred and Boline Olson, and her sisters, Tilda Olson and Amanda Sandrock.

Grandchildren include Clark and Nancy Pierson; Eugene, David and Daniel Mack; and Sandra Pechan. There are also seven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Pierson was a past president of the Tampico American Legion Auxillary.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home, Tampico. A service will be held at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Burial will be at the Tampico Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to the Tampico Community Building Fund, Tampico, IL.
