Donald R. Fortune, 93, of Tampico, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Born March 2, 1925 he was a son of Edward and Edith (Carlson) Fortune.

He married Joyce Kinney on May 4, 1947 in Rock Falls. She died on September 30, 2016. Don was a veteran of WWII and served in the US Navy. He was a member of Advent Christian Church in Prophetstown and had worked for Case International Harvester for 27 years until his retirement.

Those left to honor his memory include his son Thomas (Regi) Fortune of Tampico; a sister Marjorie Hill of Minnesota; 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother and 3 sisters.

The funeral will be held on Monday, February 18th at 11 AM in Advent Christian Church, Prophetstown. Burial will be at Tampico Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 AM Monday at the church. The family requests that memorials in his memory be directed to Advent Christian Church. Garland Funeral Home in Tampico is assisting the family.
