Sophrina Rasmussen Dead
Passed Away at Her Home Here Last Week Thursday of Bright's Disease
Sophrina Maria Rasmussen died at her home here last week Thursday evening at 11 o'clock. Death was due to Bright's disease from which she had suffered for several years her condition becoming very bad a couple weeks preceeding death. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Methodist church. Rev. H. A. Snyder the pastor officiating. Music of an appropriate character was rendered by a quartette composed of Mrs. H. A. Snyder, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hellier and James Johnson. Interment was in the cemetery at Yorktown. There was a large number of friends and relatives present at the church and there were a number of beautiful floral tributes.
Sophrina Maria Allen was born in Kankakee Co., Ill., August 28, 1853. She was married to Rasmus Rasmussen at Morrison, Ill., Jan. 24, 1874. Mr. Rasmussen died May 15, 1905, just eight years previous on the same day. Following their marriage they lived at Round Grove for some time, then moved two and one half miles south east of Tampico, where they lived for sixteen years. Then moved one and one half miles west of Thomas where they lived sixteen years. Two years ago in February Mrs. Rasmussen moved to Tampico. To this union twelve children were born. Two have died. Four sons and six daughters survive and were at the funeral services: Alfred P., Charles W., Frank F. and Lloyd J. Rasmussen, Mary M., Rose, Annie B. Kerber, Myrtle A. Owens, Sadie M. Newell, Dessie V. Heintzelman, and Alice Il Rasmussen. She has two brothers and two sisters, three of whom were present at the funeral.
