The Walnut Leader January 24, 1897 Obit for Moses Wright
Moses C. Wright was born May 1st, 1824, in Wayne Co., New York, where his childhood days were spent. When a young man he moved with his parents to the state of Michigan and from there he moved to Greenville, Bureau County, Ill. This was about forty years ago. He was married to Lucy Ann Newton, at New Bedford in the year 1858, who proceeded to the other world only nine months ago. At that time Mr. Wright appeared to be in fairly good health and continued so until about the first of September, when almost suddenly he was stricken with some form of disease that could not be conquered. It is hard to imagine more violent suffering. His death occurred at 12 0'clock Tuesdaynight January 12th, 1897. He leaves eight children, all sons all grown, and three aged sisters. His was a familiar face in the town of Greenville. He was a model of physical strength, manly force and endurance, always rushing around, genial, sociable and fond of jokes. The funeral was held in the Methodist church, of which he was a member, at New Bedford, onThursday, and many friends and neighbors followed him to his last resting place in the Greenville-Fairfield cemetery.
