TAMPICO TORNADO
Saturday, April 17, 1897

Frank SHULTZ, a boy about twelve years old, was run over and killed by the cars at Deer Grove last Sunday morning. The boy with his father and a younger brother were walking on the erailroad track east of Deer Grove, when they heard a train cominmg from the west. The fatehr paid no attention to the train as he thought it would stop at the station. They were upon the bridge and the fatehr was\w the train ws\as not going to stop so he took the youhtes5 child and hurried across, supposing that his son Frank was following closely, as he stepped off the bridge the train was right upon them and the boy only a few feet from the end. He could have jumped off, but was probably frightened. He did not even look back and the engine struck him and threw him a considerable distance. His head was badly crushed and death must have resulted instatnly.
