WM. E. SHERE DIED SUDDENLY

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD TUESDAY AFTERNOON OF THIS WEEK

Funeral services for late Wm. E. SHERE who passed away very suddenly last Saturday morning from a heat attack, were held Tuesday afternoon, A short service was held at the home at 2 o'clock and the church service was held at the Christian church at 2:30. The church was filled with  relatives and the many friends Mr. SHERE  had made in the many years he lived here. Rev. F. W. KEARNS of Walnut officiated, assisted in his text, the 12th chapter, 1st verse of Ecclesiastes, "Remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say I have nopleasure inthem."

A male quartet consisting of Ed BERGE, Will STEERS, Oscar  WETZELL and R. N. HELLIER sang three very pretty selections, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," Going Down the Valley Waiting," Mrs. L. B. WINCHELL accompanied at the piano. Those who acted as pallbearers were Chas. MORRILL, L. B. WINCHELL, Gus JOHNSON, Freman FOY, Alice HUNTER and Ernest MCKENZIE. Interment was made in the Yorktown Cemetery.

OBITUARY

 

William E. SHERE, son of J. E. and Maria SHERE was born July 24. 1848 in Albion, N. Y. and came to Yorktown, Ill. with his parents in 1854. His entire life was spent in the vicinity of Yorktown, retiring to Tampio, Illinois in 1907.

He was united in marriage to Charity WILSEY on March 1, 1874 at Yorktown. She passed away May 21, 1894. To this union were born four children, Clarence SHERE of Drinkwater, Sask., Canada; Mrs. Mae JOHNSON of Highmore, S. D.; Albert SHERE of Cedar Falls, Ia. and Mrs. Nellie HEINZELMAN of Joliet, Ill.

On June 12, 1895 Mr. SHERE was married a second time, to Miss Zilla DOW, at Yorktwon, who survives him. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Temple Pierceson and Harry SHERE of Tampico.

After a few years of declining strength accompanied by much pain, he passed to his reward August 12, 1932 at the good old age of 84 years and 20 days. He was a kind husband and loving father and a good neighbor and citizen.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, and six children, one sister, Mrs. J. F. LANDWEIR of Rock Falls, and one brother A.A. SHERE of Yorktown, besides other relatives and many friends in the community where he was a highly esteemed resident.
