JAMES HOGEBOOM
Last Sunday evening a terrible accident took place at Denrock. James HOGEBOOM, a nineteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. John HOGEBOOM, who runs the hotel at that place, met his death in the most horrible manner. He slipped upon the ladder of a box car, while a train was switching, and in stepping slipped and fell beneath the cars and was terribly mangled. When he was found life was extinct. He was carried to his home, and from there the remains were brought to Tampico for burial Tuesday morning. He was attending school at Prophetstown, and a number from that place, as well as here attended the funeral. The services was [sic] held in the M.E. church of this place. Rev. Geo. WELLS officiating, and the remains were interred in the Tampico cemetery.
