LESTER E. JOHNSON TAKEN BY DEATH
Lester E. JOHNSON passed away Wednesday at Perry Memorial hospital, Princeton, at the age of 48. He had been ill for some time.
Funeral Services were heldin the Baptist church Saturday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. Joseph STOUBE, conducting teh service, assisted by George SITES of the Yorktown Church of Christ.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard SPRAGUE, Prophetstown, sang "In the Garden" and "Abide With Me," aaccompanied by Mrs. Glen CARLSON at the organ.
Glen CARLSON and Paul KAISER were the ushers.
Mrs. Harvey SANDROCK, Mrs. Harry PEARSON, Mrs. Glen ROGERS, Mr. and Mrs. Ted WISEMAN were the flower aides.
Burial was in the Tampico Memorial cemetery with Harvey Sandrock, Garland McCOY, Harry PEARSON, Ivan NEAHRING, Raymond MARTENS, and Glenn ROGERS serving as casket beares.
Lester Emerson JOHNSON, son of Peter C. and Eva STEWART JOHNSON, was born in Fairfield township April 10, 1915. He received his education in the Thomas schools (Manlius High School)
On January 26, 1935 he married Dana Belle POWELL in the Manlius Baptist parsonage. He had lived in the Thomas vicinity all his life. He was a member of the Tampico Baptist church. He had served as constable of Fairfield township for a few years.
Surviving are his wife; his father, Peter C., Thomas; two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Patricia) BATTEN, an Mrs. Wayne (Janice) COOPER, Tampico; two sons, Robert and Sammy at home; four granchildren, one sister, Lillie, Thomas; three brothers, Everett, Manlius; V. Francis, Thomas and Wilbert, Checktowaga, N. J.; several nieces and a nephew.
His mother and one brother preceded him in death.
