Dorothy Lathrop

FORT LUPTON, Colo. - Dorothy Marie Lathrop, 79, of Fort Lupton, Colo., formerly of Deer Grove, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at Platte Valley Medical Center, Brighton, Colo.

Mrs. Lathrop was born July 14, 1927, in Niles, Ohio, the daughter of Virgil and Estell (Jenks) McCoy. She attended Dixon High School. She married Donald Gene Lathrop on Aug. 5, 1945. He died in 1997. They lived most of their years in the Sterling, Rock Falls and Deer Grove area. She loved playing bingo and met many new friends there.

Survivors include a son, R.G. (Nancy) Lathrop of Mission, Texas; three daughters, Ann (Chuck) Busha of Fort Lupton, Colo., Donna (Brad) Dietz of Castle Rock, Colo., and Debbie (John) Hashman of Leaf River; a sister, Florence Papenfuss of Plymouth, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five very special grandchildren from the Young family of Deer Grove.

She was preceded in death by two brothers; a sister; a daughter, Penny in 1981; and a grandson, Jim Marschang in 1994.

The funeral is at 10 a.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls, with the Rev. Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial is at Coloma Township Cemetery, Rock Falls. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established.
