Lester Hollis Rites Thursday

Lester Lane Hollis, 69, of 1711 14th Ave., Rock Falls, died Tuesday afternoon at Sterling Care Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Wheelock Allen Funeral Home in Rock Falls with Rev. Dennis Buss, pastor of the Evangelical Congregational Church of Rock Falls officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

A Memorial has been established.

He was born May 17, 1908, in Montmorency Twp., the son of Joseph Martin and Ida May Lane Hollis. He married G. (Gertrude) Ailene Scoughton on Feb. 23, 1933 in Rock Falls. He had farmed in Montmorency until 1960 and was then employed by ASCS of Morrison until retiring in 1971.

Survivors include his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Bette) Deets of Rock Falls; one sister, Mrs. Gordon (Mayme) Buchanan of Rock Falls; three grandsons, Michael Lane Deets of Dixon, Mark Deets of Rockton and Marhsall Deets of Rock Falls; and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wheelock funeral home for Lester L. Hollis. The Rev. Dennis Buss, pastor of the Evangelical Congregational Church of Rock Falls officiated and burial was in Riverside cemetery.

Mr. Roscoe Eades was organist and Rev. Ray Rebuck soloist.

Pallbearers were: Tom Pierce, Dan Pierce, Ray Cordes, Ray Scott, Robert Behrens and Robert Eller. Flowers were cared for by Behrens.
