Robert L. Lauritzen, Jr., age 65, of 501 W. Kimball Street in Tampico, Illinois died Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at his home. Bob was born on February 19, 1941, the son of Robert L. and Thelma (Glass) Lauritzen. He was united in marriage to Joyce Thompson on May 28, 1960 in Clinton, Iowa.
He was employed as a galvanizer at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. for 34 years retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Two Cylinder Club. He collected toy tractors and built various types of toy trucks, trailers, and farm equipment.
He is survived by his wife Joyce of Tampico, Illinois; three daughters Robbin (Terry) Klockenga of Prophetstown, Illinois; Joy (Kirk) Williams of Prophetstown, Illinois; Jenny (Mike) Lucas of Tampico, Illinois; two sons Bob (Beth) Lauritzen of Prophetstown, Illinois; Russ (Lisa) Lauritzen of Tampico; 17 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; his mother Thelma Lauritzen of Walnut, Illinois; one brother Larry (Karen) Lauritzen of Ohio, Illinois; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and one daughter Lori Jo.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut, with the Rev. Monty Fox, pastor of the Tampico United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. A MEMORIAL HAS BEEN ESTABLISED IN HIS MEMORY.
