Rita J. Gilman, age 84, 310 Mosher Drive in Prophetstown, Illinois died Monday, January 01, 2007 at Prophets Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown, Illinois. Mrs. Gilman was born on September 19, 1922, the daughter of Hollis and Florence (Wertz) Pickens. She was united in marriage to Dean E. Gilman on January 27, 1945 in Erie, Illinois and he preceded her in death on November 14, 1990.

She worked at the Ramada Inn in Rock Falls in the housekeeping department for a number of years. She enjoyed camping with her husband for many years, reading and her family. She was also was a member of the Tampico Church of Christ.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Stuart of Prophetstown, Illinois, Pamela (Mike) Norberg of Sterling, Illinois; one son Lowell (Carol) Gilman of Prophetstown, Illinois; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and two brothers.

Private funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico with C. J. “Butch” McNinch, officiating. Burial will be in Coloma Twp. Cemetery. Public visitation will be held on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS A MEMORIAL HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED IN HER MEMORY.
